What is Ijazah in the Quran?

The word ijazah “اجازة” actually means the permission and authorization; Ijazah in Quran means the permission and license to teach Quran from the person who already holds the permission from the expert Quran teachers. Muslims have followed this ijazah process since the time of the Prophet (PBUH), as the Quran is not an ordinary Arabic book. Still, it is the most sacred and divine Book in the world and requires excellence in the rules that came with it before transmitting it to others, and only the expert Quran teachers have a permit to give Ijazah.

Why is Ijazah in the Quran important?

A great deal of importance is attached to the Quran ijazah, which is the process of certifying that a Muslim has read and understood the Quran. This certification can be invaluable for individuals seeking to gain admittance into Islamic religious institutions or employment in the Muslim community. Additionally, having a Quran ijazah can add weight to an individual’s religious credentials when seeking employment or membership in Islamic societies.
Quran ijazah also assures Muslims that they are following in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and reading and understanding Allah’s words. In addition, it can be a source of comfort to Muslims during difficult times, such as during periods of sectarian conflict or personal trials. Finally, having a Quran ijazah can serve as an important marker of spiritual progress for Muslims.
